Are you experiencing neck pain as a result of a sudden or chronic injury?
With more and more time spent on computers and cell phones these days, it’s no surprise that neck pain is on the rise.
So, how can we get rid of that terrible pain?
First, put down the cell phone or tablet. Step away from the computer. “But that’s my job. I have to be on the computer.” Okay, then we have to manage this with frequent breaks.
You see, the longer you sit in one position, the more stress you put on your neck and other parts of your body. Set a timer on your phone or computer screen to alert you every 30 minutes. When the timer goes off, stop working and look around just for 20-30 seconds. Take a couple of deep breaths and then go back to work.
Better yet, drink a glass of water every hour. This will set off an internal automatic timer and will get you away from that computer. This strategy is by far the best (as long as there’s a bathroom nearby) because you are staying hydrated AND interrupting that prolonged computer posture.
Secondly, anyone who is experiencing pain should get it checked out by a professional chiropractor. The healthier you are the longer you can spend in a position that stresses your neck without causing pain. Therefore, if you take care of yourself and get treatment, you can prevent most of this discomfort in the first place.
