Are you experiencing shoulder pain as a result of a sudden or chronic injury?
Shoulder pain is extremely common due to the complexity of the joint itself. It’s wonderful in the sense that it has a tremendous range of motion. But, with this great range of motion comes an abundance of responsibility for the surrounding musculature and ligamentous tissue. The surrounding structures, when healthy, help keep the region stable and healthy.
We rely on our shoulder joints to help us do small things like write and type, as well as open doors, reach up in cupboards, and even turn the steering wheel. The shoulder joint also helps us throw a ball, swinging a racquet or club, or do a layup.
Needless to say, your shoulder joint is used quite often!
The normal, daily use of this joint often leads to the development of adhesion that restricts its motion and causes pain. The longer you ignore this lower range of motion and/or pain, the more adhesion develops. This ultimately leads to damage to your rotator cuff tendons, the labrum, and the joint itself.
At this point you’ll also start to have neck problems, as the muscles that connect your shoulder to your neck will start to take over the muscular responsibilities of your injured shoulder.
The good news is, at Prime Spine Associates, we regularly fix these shoulder problems.
By reducing adhesion with specifically targeted, hands on treatment, we are able to restore normal range of motion and stability in your shoulder. Even if you’ve had shoulder pain for a long time, we’re likely to be able to help significantly.
At Prime Spine Associates, Dr. Brian Zelasko and Dr. Adam McCrea have helped many of our clients avoid surgery, even after being diagnosed with labral and rotator cuff tears.
